Let's Talk Meal Prep

Meal Prep. It is an absolute MUST for getting a head start on a successful week. For the 75 Hard Challenge, I have been reading the book, Atomic Habits. It talks about learning to think like the person you want to become. Thinking like a healthy person - having the mentality of not only someone who WANTS to be healthy, but someone who already is healthy and making healthy choices. I am learning to not only set goals, but to create systems that help create good habits that enable me to go beyond just simply meeting my goal. We don't want to meet our goals and then ask, "Now what?" Create systems that help create lasting habits.

A couple of tips on meal prep:

  1. Speaking of creating systems that help create good habits - you need to have a system for meal prep. Sundays are my meal prep days, no questions asked. On Fridays, I start planning my meals for the following week and I begin making my grocery list. On Saturdays, I'm placing that grocery order, and on Sundays I am prepping my meals. I have been doing this for the last 7 months. In fact, at this point, it would feel weird if I didn't do it.

  2. Make meals that you know you will enjoy! I can't stress this enough. No one wants the same bland meals all week and not enjoy it. Include meals that you know you will look forward to eating. Doing this will definitely help you to stay on track and not stray too far from the plan.

Just these two tips alone have helped me tremendously when it comes to prepping for the week ahead and being successful.

We are just two days away from Friday, so go ahead and start thinking about the kind of meals you would like to eat next week. Plan that out, and then get started on that grocery list!
